Privacy policy

The principles
- Calculator inputs never leave your browser. The figures you type into our tools are processed locally on your device and are not transmitted to or stored by us.
- We never sell or share personal data with financial firms. No lead generation, no "matching", no list sales — ever.
- We collect the minimum. You can read the entire site without giving us anything.
Fee benchmark submissions
If you add a fee to our advice fee benchmark, we store only the figures and categories you submit (fee amounts, service type, pot size band, region, year, adviser type). We do not collect your name, email address, or the name of any firm, and we never publish individual submissions — only aggregate statistics. To limit spam, a salted one-way hash of your IP address is stored alongside the submission for rate-limiting; it cannot be reversed into your address and is not used for any other purpose.
What we collect, and why
| Data | When | Purpose & lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | If you subscribe to the newsletter | Sending the newsletter you asked for (consent — withdraw any time via the unsubscribe link) |
| Correspondence | If you email us | Answering you (legitimate interest) |
| Aggregate analytics | As you browse | Understanding which content helps (legitimate interest; configured without storing personal identifiers where possible) |
| Advertising cookies | Only with your consent, where ads are served | Ad delivery and measurement by our advertising partners (consent via the cookie banner, withdrawable any time) |
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or port the personal data we hold about you, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Email privacy@financialadvisor.co.uk — we respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Retention and security
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted from active systems. Correspondence is kept no longer than two years unless needed for a live issue. Data is stored with reputable providers within the UK/EEA or under appropriate safeguards.
Third parties
Where third-party services operate on the site (email delivery, analytics, advertising networks), they process data under contracts and their own published policies; we list active providers here as they are engaged. We do not, and will not, pass your details to financial services firms for marketing.
